Frames/Glasses

When choosing a pair of spectacles there is so much more to it than ensuring they just look good. Frames and lenses come in a wide range of materials. Frames are available in acetate (plastic) as well as metal materials such as stainless steel and the ultimate in metal, titanium.  Also proving popular are rimless frames for their lightweight comfort and almost invisible appearance. In lenses, the choice is even broader ranging from standard plastic materials to high tech, lightweight, very thin materials to the Transitions lens which darken in sunlight and lighten indoors. There are many exciting advances in the designs and materials for spectacle lenses

Contact Lenses

Contact Lenses are now available for almost all prescriptions, even in bifocals, cosmetic colours, and astigmatism. Contact lenses even come in one-day disposables for those who may only want to wear them part-time (sporting or social activities).  Because of the many different types of contact lens in the marketplace, the doctor will prescribe the best lenses for your needs. Contact lenses are prescription-only and are considered a medical device. All contact lens patients are required to be fit by the doctor before purchasing.

Dry Eye Assessment

If you suffer from chronic dry eye, redness, irritation and fatique with reading and/or computer use, you may have Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca, or Dry Eye Syndrome. Using different tests, our doctors can diagnose and prescribe therapy for Dry Eye Syndrome. Depending on the type and severity, it may range from simple eye exercises to ocular lubricants to punctual occlusion.

Visual Field Assessment

A visual field test is a method of measuring an individuals entire scope of vision. Visual field testing actually maps the visual fields of each eye. Visual field testing is used to detect any early (or late) signs of glaucoma damage to the optic nerve and/or damage to the retina. It is also used to measure if the patient meets the minimum visual field as required by the Highway Traffic Act (Ministry of Transport Ontario Act 83/05)

Laser Surgery

Laser vision correction is one of the most exciting technological advances in the history of eye care. New technologies in laser surgery have made crystal clear vision a possibility, even for those with astigmatism, and those who need bifocals. Our doctors will test your eyes to see if you are a candidate for refractive surgery.
